WORLD RECORD
ATTEMPT
FRIDAY JUNE
8, 2012
- All 300 players
of the Soo Lacrosse Club will attempt to set a
new World Record for "most participants in a
lacrosse game".
- This event will
take place Friday evening, June 8th, starting
at 6:00 pm, on the Rocky Dipietro Football
Field, outside the John Rhodes Community
Centre.
- Players born in
2004, 2005, and 2006 will start the game and
play for 20-minutes. Then without
interruption, players born in 2002 & 2003
will take the field. Successive age
groups will take their turn until everyone has
played. Everyone will then play together
for 20 more minutes to re-create the
traditional way lacrosse was played in North
America for centuries.
- All players must register
on Friday June 1. They
will receive their souvenir t-shirt that must
be used in the game. They must also
participate in the Field lacrosse
lesson. There is no cost to Club players
to participate.

NON-CLUB PLAYERS CAN ALSO
PARTICIPATE
Boys and Girls born in 2006 or before, who are
not Club players, can get in on the fun.
Moms and Dads of any age, this is your chance to
get your name in the record books too.
- All players must wear a hockey helmet with a
full cage, and wear some sort of protective
gloves.
- Bring a lacrosse stick if you have one or
one will be lent to you.
- Register on-line as soon as possible.
- Be at the John Rhodes arena on Friday June
1:
- You can register in person, cost $30.
- You must sign the
insurance waiver. (players under
the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian
sign.
- You will then be taught the basic skills
of using a lacrosse stick and the rules of
safe play.
- You should arrive at the following times:
born in 2004, 2005, 2006 = 6:00

under the Officials News. You will be
refereeing and helping with the draft games both
days. Wear your Referee jerseys for the
scrimmages.
PeeWee & Bantam
helpers should be on the floor early and running
the 5-minute warm-ups. Ask your coach if
they want you dressed and on the floor for games?

the model, the colour and the size.

remember the STORE prices include shipping,
taxes and are in Canadian dollars.
- Then email Nick and he will order anything you

- Nick will then bring your new gear to any
Winter lacrosse session or on any day the store
is open.

COMPLETE
STICKS
- Complete sticks are the "best value for non-contact
divisions".
- Complete stick include heads, mesh, shooting
strings, shafts and butts.
- Heads have open faces which makes it easier
for new players to catch the ball.
- Thin shafts are perfect for smaller hands.
- Shorter junior shafts give the stick a total
length of 34-36 inches. The shorter the
stick the better. Total stick length must be
between 34 and 46 inches for Tyke, Novice and
PeeWee divisions.
- These 6000 grade aluminum shafts are not
warrantied against bending.
- Heads are warrantied for 6 months.

HEADS
- Some heads
come with mesh, some don't.
- Nick, the
store operator will professionally add or
replace any mesh on any head, while you wait
or overnight. The cost for this
service is $10.
- Some heads are
made of plastic of 1 or 2 colours.
- Chrome heads
are made of plastic with an the Chrome
finish painted on.
- All heads fit
all shafts. Sometimes the screw hole
needs to be added to the correct position.

ARM PROTECTION
- Lacrosse players arm's should be completely
covered.
- Often gaps are between the glove and elbow
protector, this can be solved with wrist guards
or longer elbow protection.
- Most contact in lacrosse comes between the
elbow protector and the shoulder pads. A
special piece of lacrosse equipmen called the
bicep pad protects this area.
- Hockey elbow pads are OK if they are long and
flexible.
- Lacrosse arm protection come in two styles:
arm/elbow pads are softer, more
flexible and shorter, usually best for young
players. Arm/elbow guards
have hard plastic surfaces and are longer so
offer more protection for higher levels of
contact.
